Football runs deep in the Sites family  Jonathan’s grandfather (left) Colonel Carroll Sites played for Sheridan High School in Arkansas.  His dad, Jimmy (right), played quarterback for Central Arkansas Christian High School in Little Rock, AR and then went on to play football and baseball at Harding University.

Jimmy Sites speaking at the first ever Professional Football Game Faith Night, held in Birmingham, AL with the Arena Football team the Birmingham Steeldogs.  ESPN captured the historic moment.  TeamSOA gave away 4,000 Bibles at the game, and the Birmingham players wore jerseys depicting their favorite Bible verse rather than the players’ names.  The jerseys were auctioned after the game for charity.

SENIOR SEASON at CARSON-NEWMAN UNIVERSITY

The Eagles season came to end in the second round of the national championship playoffs, where they jumped out to an early 20-7 lead over #1-ranked Super Region opponent Lenior-Rhine.  As the visiting team, C-N was rolling to what appeared to be a solid victory until a second-half offensive letdown cost the Eagles the game and a shot at moving on in the playoffs.  L-R went on the next week to defeat super-power North Alabama, and then won their fourth playoff game to put them in the national championship game where they finally fell to the legendary Northwest Missouri State team.

Jonathan turned in a stellar performance during the final game of his college career, with 13 tackles while playing injured.  He and the other two outstanding Eagle linebackers virtually shut down the L-R offense, which is ranked the #1

rushing offense in the country.  They held L-R to the lowest amount of yards of any of their 15 opponents during the 2013 campaign.

Carson-Newman ended the regular season ranked 18th in the nation, and ended the playoff run in the Sweet 16.  Senior Middle Linebacker Jonathan Sites ended the season with 89 tackles in 12 games (he missed one game due to injury), and is ranked second in the country for fumble recoveries this season (3).  He played the final six games with his left arm in a cast and an orthopedic brace (torn UCL in his elbow, torn muscle in his forearm, dislocated thumb and three torn ligaments).  During this period he had two games of 13 tackles.  In round 1 of the playoffs Jonathan set new career single-game records with 2 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss, and 3 QB hurries.  His career total tackles is 236 - which places him in the top 20 among all C-N defensive players over 110 years of Eagle football.  We are very proud of #24 and the entire Eagles football team and coaching staff!
